So if you are looking for glitz and glamour, this ain’t it, if you are looking for a nice low cost place with a TERRIFIC STAFF, and OUTSTANDING FOOD, this is it. It is being renovated, so temper your expectations, but this place has wonderful potential and I absolutely loved our stay. Clean, everything was as it should be. The drive to it is beautiful. Can’t say enough about the food and the staff!

DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL WITH ANY KIND OF VISIBLE CONFIRMATION OR COMMUNICATION. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU A FULL NIGHT STAY WITHOUT ANY KIND OF NOTIFICATION (email, text, call) I made a reservation in December 2023 for an April 2024 date. I didn't get an email confirming the reservation, so I called the hotel the same day I made the reservation. I asked someone to send me an email confirmation, which they promised they would. After the call, I didn't think about the reservation because I trusted an email was in my inbox (as promised). About one month ago (ie: beginning of March), I had the thought "did I make a reservation at The Retreat at Charleston Peak?" I went to check my email and I did not have ANY emails from the hotel. So, I moved forward with the assumption I did not have a reservation given there was NO trace of it in my email. I saw my credit card bill on April 8th) that I was charged $174 on April 6th. I was shocked. I went to look in my email to see if I had any confirmation email and NOTHING showed up. I called the hotel and the front desk attendant about the charge. They told me to check my spam (spam does not show up even when you search in your gmail for a hotel name). After searching my email multiple times (and not seeing anything), I had to search spam mail and saw an email on March 31, April 4, and April 6th. THESE ARE NOT EMAILS I RECEIVED. The hotel charged me $174 for a reservation I had no trace of having (and never used). They did not send me any visible (even when SEARCHING my mail) confirmation and never called me once to confirm. I requested a refund for this charge and to speak to the manager / owner of the hotel. They have yet to call me back (which they promised they would do).

The staff accommodated my bad knees and found me a 1 floor room and checked me in early. The group that checked in with friends and family failed to control their kids until staff repeatedly stepped in an imposed a curfew. The restaurant food was good one waitress was excellent. Wait time to be seated at buffet night was not reasonable

Mold smell

Wow. I don’t even know from where to start. Our room was stinky! It was unbearable smell. Smell of mold, pure mold. I told them that and the “owner” or whatever she is started to argue with me that there is no smell. They put in a machine that supposed to purified the air and take off the smell, but it just made it worse. I ended up being ALL day long in the lobby and leaving a night earlier. In addition, the place is just super dirty. The flooring, carpets and the lobby’s bathroom is seriously a stay away. The staff is rude and obviously don’t know how to run an hotel. If there is a place I would never come back to it’s this place. So so dirty and smelly.

Feb 17,2024. We ended up not staying here even though it was free!!! Thats how unprofessional their staff is. We stayed at this place week before xmas 2023. The room was the dirtiest, bathroom was gross with black-mildew filled grouts. The chicken wings we had the bar was uncooked and still frozen i side. Just a bite if that got both iof us very sick. When i complained during the checkout they promised Kind Suite for Feb 17.2024. We showed up on Feb 17, 2024 but they refused to honor what they had promised. Instead offered us another regular room. And at that point i decided to go back and not stay at this place for even free! They place is dirty, bar food is limited and not properly handled. Just a plain bad business which apparently is family owned.
